Colbert House

Colbert House is located at the corner of Spruce and Quaker streets in Ilwaco, Washington.

The historic Colbert House located in the city of Ilwaco is a Washington State Parks Heritage Site and on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally built in the former town of Chinookville in 1872 the house was either dismantled or moved whole down river to its current location in 1883. An addition in 1891 added a parlor, bedroom, and the porch on the south and west sides of the house. Another addition in 1896 included the construction of a dining room, kitchen, pantry, and a large workroom.

The Colbert family has an interesting history and is characteristic of many of the turn of the century fishing families in the Lower Columbia region. Both the interior and the exterior of the house were restored in 1994 with much attention to detail to make it as historically accurate as possible. Colbert family belongings were used to furnish the house to give the visitor a sense of what living in Ilwaco a hundred years ago would have been like.
